You should also give yourself time to cool down or rest. You should not abuse your body because it will just lead to other health problems. Treating shin splints is easy however do not wait for you to have one before you change your unhealthy practices. Another preventive measure is to prevent using running shoes that does not fit your feet well. It would be better to invest to good running shoes than to regret in the end.
